Job Position Details: JOB TITLE: Technology Services Administrator
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
SUPERVISES: All members of the Technology Department, including but not limited to: Network System Administrator, Computer / Network Technicians, Technology Curriculum Specialist, Technology Secretary
JOB DESCRIPTION: To provide leadership and assume management responsibility for the direction, coordination, integration, and implementation of technology across all school district buildings and departments. The Technology Services Administrator will be responsible for planning, purchasing, installing, and maintaining physical technology systems of the District in a condition of excellence, enabling full educational use of technology at all times in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and requirements.
Qualifications and Skills: Education: (Preferred) Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Experience: A minimum of five years of experience working with technology, preferably in an educational environment. Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Highly organized with strong project management skills and drive to meet objectives including the ability to manage projects on interrelated timelines. Ability to manage projects, budgets, and staff (experience preferred). Knowledge of network infrastructure, systems administration, and security protocols. Knowledge of student data systems (i.e. PowerSchool), a strong plus. Knowledge of classroom technology and educational software (preferred). Proven ability to negotiate and work with vendors and consultants. Strong understanding and experience setting up, configuring, and managing network components including switches, multiple VLANS, enterprise wireless networks, and network operating systems. Strong understanding and experience with Google Workspace for Education, Mac, Chrome, and Windows OS, MS Active Directory, group policies, security groups, and scripting.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and supervises the procurement, purchasing, installation, operation, and maintenance of District technology.
Oversee and maintain the district's network, servers, hardware, and software.
Oversees that the District’s data is being maintained securely through backups and has disaster recovery plans in place.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure IT needs are met.
Is responsible for making sure the technology inventory is up-to-date and accurate.
Oversees and ensures E-Rate documents are filed and maintained annually.
Reviews technology funding opportunities pursuing technology grants and programs when possible.
Responsible for the growth and mentorship of technology staff.
Uses personnel and resources to ensure the District systems are maintained and operational at all times.
Prioritizes, assigns, and supervises IT-related projects and work orders, including hardware and software deployments, network upgrades, and technology integrations ensuring timelines are met or adjusted as necessary.
Supervises and directs the hiring and evaluation of technology personnel.
Facilitates technology training for staff members.
Approves purchases of technology equipment and supplies throughout the District.
Provides input on the purchase of software.
Oversees licensing and support fees of software purchased and used in the district.
Serves on District committees as needed.
Oversees all District and school websites.
Facilitates the integration, implementation, and support for district software as needed or requested.
Oversees compliance of electronic information systems policies and regulations.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technology and its uses in education by attending training and workshops.
Effectively communicates technical information to staff in a positive manner.
Performs such other tasks or duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
