Job Position Details: JOB TITLE: Transportation Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Director of Support Operations
SUPERVISES: Bus Drivers
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To maintain and operate the school transportation system for delivery of safe, efficient service.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Has in possession a current C.D.L. and bus card to drive when necessary.
Oversees drivers in maintaining all bus routes are running in a timely and orderly fashion.
Sees that buses meet state mandated capacities.
In charge of resolving discipline incidents when bus discipline problems occur.
Organizes and implements preventive maintenance.
Organizes and implements safety and cleanliness on the buses.
Sees that all vehicle mechanical problems are resolved in an expeditious manner.
Works with drivers to promote safe and efficient practices.
Provide and schedule the proper training of all transportation workers to allow for proper fulfillment of one’s duties / scope of work.
Evaluates department staff and reviews documents with them.
Maintains personnel and other records as are required.
24 hours on call for bus safety, managing substitute bus drivers, assisting District vehicle drivers when mechanical problems occur, etc.
Manage bus repairs, bus discipline, parent / guardian complaints, driver certifications, substitute drivers, bus breakdowns, multiple transportation reports, routes, trips, student count, SAFETY, bus evacuations, annual bus inspections, bus repairs, evaluate if District vehicles are safe for travel. Coordinates department purchase procedures, maintains audited inventories, and delivery to District facility sites.
Prepare a written transportation update report for the monthly Governing Board meeting. Prepare, as needed, correspondence, spreadsheets, or reports for distribution to the community, parents / guardians of students, District staff, state / federal agencies, etc. Recruits, screens, interviews and recommends hiring / dismissal of department personnel in maintenance. Provide, or arrange for, the proper training of all transportation workers to allow for proper fulfillment of one’s duties / scope of work.
Works with all District administrators in expediting transportation requests and problems.
Works with all District personnel to promote safety and the proper use of District vehicles.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Support Operations.
