JOB TITLE: Maintenance/Facility Supervisor


REPORTS TO: Director of Support Operations


SUPERVISES: Maintenance Staff


JOB DESCRIPTION:


To maintain the physical school facilities in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety, so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Inspects all school buildings, grounds and installations on a regular basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained.  Confers with Principals regarding maintenance and custodial work.


  1. Establishes and implements procedures for the regular, ongoing maintenance and custodial care of all instructional areas, office facilities and grounds of the District.


  1. Be physically fit to climb ladders, walk on roofs, walk grounds, manage / operate District equipment, perform manual labor as needed, and lift 50 lbs.


  1. Inspects and maintains fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers on a regularly scheduled basis.  Maintain annual fire protection / coverage reports.


  1. Coordinate District’s grounds / turf management program (weed control, mowing, chemical application, etc.).  Maintain pesticide records as required by the EDC.


  1. Coordinates cleaning methods and requirements, reviews new cleaning products and ensures training is given on the proper use and safe application of these products.


  1. Maintain District MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) books.


  1. Coordinates department purchase procedures, maintains audited inventories, and delivery to District facility sites.


  1. Manage District Key inventory.


  1. Coordinates facility preparation for all sporting events.


  1. Recruits, screens, interviews and recommends hiring / dismissal of department personnel in maintenance.  Provide, or arrange for, the proper training of all maintenance workers to allow for proper fulfillment of one’s duties / scope of work. 


  1. Evaluates department staff and reviews documents with them.


  1. 24 hours on call for alarm management, vandalism, break-ins.


  1. Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects.


  1. Estimates cost of repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.


  1. Assigns and supervises crews of crafts people for performance of needed maintenance.


  1. Maintains an effective preventive maintenance program.


  1. Lays out and inspects work; assists crew members.


  1. Prepare, as needed, correspondence, spreadsheets, or reports for distribution to the community, parents / guardians of students, District staff, state / federal agencies, etc.

  2. Develops a system for efficiently dealing with emergency repair problems.


  1. Orders materials as needed; makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase.


  1. Assigns work orders; checks drawings and plans.


  1. Consults with building Principals regarding the establishment of regular preventive maintenance programs.


  1. Maintains such personnel and other records as are required.


  1. Advises on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair service.


  1. Establishes and supervises summer cleaning and maintenance programs.


  1. Oversees the construction of new buildings.  Works cooperatively with architect, contractor and Director of Support Operations.


  1. Prepare a written transportation update report for the monthly Governing Board meeting.

  2. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Support Operations.
