Job Position Details:

JOB TITLE: Secretary I - MGHS


REPORTS TO: Principal


JOB DESCRIPTION:


To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Maintains attendance records using the computer system; checks registers periodically; completes 40-day and 100-day attendance reports; and completes all other attendance tasks as assigned according to District and state regulations.


  1. Maintains school lunch ticket records; distributes lunch tickets; prepares money received for central office processing according to policy, procedures and regulations.


  1. Maintains student discipline records and correspondence as assigned.


  1. Assists Principal's secretary in all office matters including typing, filing, student record keeping, and other tasks as assigned.


  1. As an office receptionist, handles all communications with parents, teachers, students, and the public in a polite, professional and positive manner.


  1. Assists students as needed.


  1. Participates in professional growth activities.


  1. Maintains a clean, attractive and pleasant office atmosphere that is efficient and organized.


  1. Becomes knowledgeable and competent in other office affairs so as to be able to handle them in the absence of another secretary or the Principal.


  1. Provides Principal with needed information to assist in handling unexcused absences.


  1. Performs all required functions to produce accurate attendance and discipline reports.


  1. Answers phones and pursues appropriate follow-up of messages.


  1. Records, does one period checks, makes necessary calls and posts relevant information regarding student absences.


  1. Types and mails appropriate letters for students' tardiness, absences, misconduct, etc. as deemed necessary.


  1. Files materials as deemed appropriate by administration. 


  1. Compiles reports for attendance and discipline. 


  1. Inputs and keeps student records up to date. 


  1. Compiles information for perfect attendance and issues activity passes.


  1. Completes and performs all other duties and tasks assigned by the Principal.
