JOB TITLE: Athletic Trainer
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director/Principal
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide each athlete an opportunity to participate in athletics through prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports related injuries.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains inventory control of all assigned equipment.
2. Keep up on the fundamentals of sports medicine by attending clinics and conferences as needed.
3. Supervises the care and treatment of athletic injuries.
4. Keeps parents, coaches, and athletes informed.
5. Maintains all equipment used in assigned area according to health and safety standards.
6. Supervises and instructs student trainers and helps students with college course advisement and enrollment.
7. Carries out duties in harmony with all school, athletic association, and conference policies.
8. Helps secure all facilities (gym, locker rooms, training and equipment rooms, etc.).
10. Models the 12 Guiding Principles of Exceptional Character.
11. Holds conferences with parents, coaches and athletic director as needed regarding the treatment and care of injuries.
12. Makes sure all District and school athletic codes are complied with and reports violators to the appropriate administrator.
13. Is certified in CPR.
14. Maintains up-to-date injury records, including physicals and emergency forms, and assumes responsibility for selection and referral of students in need of medical care.
15. Explains, distributes, collects, updates, reports, refers, verifies, collaborates, organizes and maintains individual records and files on each student/athlete.
16. Assures all AIA BrainBook Concussion Education exams are successfully completed.
17. Develops and administers a Random Drug Testing Program for high school athletics.
18. Administers all Baseline Concussion Tests annually for all participants of contact sports.
19. Performs other tasks relative to the program as assigned by the administration.
