Job Position Details:

JOB TITLE: Health Parapro


REPORTS TO: Building Principal and School Nurse


JOB DESCRIPTION:


To assist the School Nurse in tending to students’ well-being and safety.  


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Supervises children sent to the nurse’s office.


  1. Dispenses medications according to physician’s prescription and Governing Board Policy.


  1. Maintains records of students served.


  1. Contacts parents to pick up children who need to go home.      


  1. Keeps up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.


  1. Provides assistance with hearing and vision testing.


  1. Assists with Kindergarten registration.


  1. Communicates daily with nurse concerning health care of students.


  1. Communicates with parents regarding students’ health care.


  1. Communicates with Principal regarding students’ health care, as needed.


  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
According to federal requirements, ALL K-12 paraprofessionals working with students in any capacity must meet the following requirements:
  • High school diploma OR GED AND

  • An Associate’s degree or higher OR

  • 60 or more credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education OR

  • Obtain a passing score on one of the ADE approved online assessments below:

           *Parapro, ACT Workkeys, or The Master Teacher Para Educator PD Now!


The Parapro online assessment costs $55 using a personal credit card.
