Job Position Details: JOB TITLE: Title I Student Support Services Provider
REPORTS TO: Principals/Director of Instructional Services
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide instruction and services to elementary students to help promote supportive school climates, reduce the use of exclusionary discipline, and supportive school discipline. In addition, to help students overcome problems that impede learning and assist them in making educational, behavioral and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as growing young people in a changing global society.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides classroom lessons and small group help focusing on the development of strategies such as problem solving, decision-making and cooperation.
Developing relationship building skills to help improve safety through the recognition and prevention of coercion, violence, or abuse.
Implementing systems and practices to prevent bullying and harassment.
Providing school-based life skill services.
Promoting supportive school climates to reduce the use of exclusionary discipline and promoting supportive school discipline.
Protects student record confidentiality.
Maintains a student support center available to students and parents providing a confidential student support atmosphere.
Schedules appropriate activities with teachers to be presented in whole classroom situations.
Confers with parents, as needed, concerning their child.
Works with staff members to familiarize them with the general range of services offered.
Serves as a consultant to faculty on matters of student academic and emotional concerns.
Maintains relations with local counseling organizations and other related agencies. Initiates referrals as needed.
Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings/workshops, reading appropriate professional publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
Provides programming to improve instruction and student engagement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), including computer science, and increasing access to these subjects for gifted students.
Follows guidelines of the Title I Program as communicated by the program directors.
Completes other tasks as assigned by the Principal.
