The Safford Unified School
District #1, Safford, Arizona, Governing Board, is seeking a highly qualified and
fully certified Superintendent. Start date for this position is July 1, 2020

3,000+
Number of Schools in District: 6 (3-K-6 schools, 1-Middle School, 1-High School,
1-Alternative High School)
Location:
Safford is a rural community located 171 miles NE of Tucson, AZ and 182 miles
SE of Phoenix, AZ
Job Description: The Superintendent is the
Board’s chief executive officer and the administrative head of all divisions
and departments of the school system. It is the Superintendent’s duty to
administer the policies of the Board and to provide leadership for the entire
school system. The Superintendent is the professional consultant to the Board,
and in this capacity makes recommendations to the Board for changes in Board
policies and the educational program. The Superintendent provides the
initiative, the driving force, and the technical guidance for the improvement
of the total program of the school system. The delegation of responsibility and
authority for the operation of the various functions of the school is one of
the duties. The Superintendent is directly and irrevocably responsible to the
Board for all functions of the school, including (a) evaluation; (b) planning;
(c) reporting; (d) personnel; (e) coordination; and (f) Board policies.
Requirements:
* Current Superintendent certificate
* Administrative level experience
* Sound knowledge of school business and finance
* Sound knowledge of school law
* Skilled problem solver
* Strong leadership skills
Preferred Experience:
* Sound knowledge of Arizona State Statutes
* Teaching, curriculum and instruction

* Data-driven decision maker
